A root canal, also known as endodontic treatment, is a treatment performed to save an infected tooth when a person is in tooth pain. The dentist or endodontist performs this treatment by removing infected tissue from the inner canal of the tooth, refilling and sealing the tooth. A root canal alleviates infection in a tooth and is a procedure that can prevent future infections. This procedure is a defense against needed a tooth extraction which will leave a space where the tooth once was. Generally root canal treatment is followed by a dental crown/cap.
Many patients experience complete relief from tooth pain immediately following a root canal and are able to resume daily activities shortly after the procedure.
A root canal removes the dead pulp in order to:
Sometimes a tooth becomes so weakened or damaged due to cavity that it impairs normal function of the tooth. A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that’s placed over the damaged tooth to strengthen the tooth and restore its form and function followed by root canal treatment. The crown is bonded to the tooth, and is cared for and cleaned just the same as all natural teeth. Shades of original teeth are selected and replicated in the artificial teeth exactly to give a natural appearance for all types of crown.
Gaps where natural teeth have been lost affect the health of the mouth, as well as disrupt daily activities such as chewing and speaking. A dental bridge is an appliance that acts as a replacement for one or more missing teeth. The bridge is anchored into the space by two crowns bonded to the two teeth adjacent to either side of the gap. Bridges are custom-made to match the size and shape of the mouth and surrounding natural teeth, and are a great solution for restoring a full set of teeth.
Materials used for bridges are as same as dental crowns.
Dentures are custom-created removable appliances that look natural and function just as your own natural teeth, allowing you to smile, chew and speak with confidence. People young and old can benefit from dentures which replace missing teeth, support for the structure of your jaw and allow you to enjoy daily activities. We offer full, partial, immediate dentures and implant supported dentures.
An estimated half of the adult population has some degree of gum disease; however the condition is 100% preventable, and in many cases, is reversible with good dental hygiene. Gum disease is categorized by 3 stages: gingivitis (early stage), periodontitis, and Advanced Periodontitis. Early signs of gum disease include bleeding, swollen, red or tender gums. As gum disease progresses, pockets form around the teeth and the tissues and ligaments that anchor the teeth to the jaw begin to pull away. Very severe cases of gum disease often require flap surgery, a deep cleaning, and possible gum grafting to reverse gum recession.
We do flap surgeries and curettage with LASER.
Children should begin regular dentist visits when they are between six months and a year old. Dentists can check to make sure that babies and children’s mouths are healthy, and that their teeth are coming in properly. A dentist can guide the parents about diet, tooth eruption, finger habits, fluoride etc. Another benefit: children who regularly see dentists learn to be comfortable around dentists and to take good care of their teeth.
Pediatric procedures are done under local anesthesia or general anesthesia or by sleeping dentistry.
They help the child to chew food, smile properly and speak clearly. Baby teeth hold the space for permanent teeth. If child looses teeth at an early age because of decay/ damage the nearby teeth can encroach that free space which can result in misplaced/crooked permanent teeth.
Fluoride application toughens the teeth and prevents decay. Needs to be done once in 6 months.
Sealing of the pits and grooves of the teeth prevents food from sticking and prevents decay. This needs to be done once in 6 months.
While the milk tooth can be filled if decayed, deeper cavities may require removal of the infected pulp tissue called pulpectomy or pulpotomy. Some deep cavities may require pulp capping.
Stainless steel preformed crowns are used to cover the decayed tooth and provide the chewing efficiency, this will prevent the spread of decay and help in maintaining the space till the permanent counterpart erupts.
Strip crowns are used to restore front teeth since stainless as they are aesthetically pleasing.
When milk teeth are lost before than the permanent teeth are mature for eruption, the space needs to be preserved to avoid arrangement problem or locking of the tooth in the bone.
Thumb sucking, mouth breathing, nail biting, lip sucking habits need to be broken by the age of 4 years. The pediatric dentist design special appliances to intercept these habits thereby preventing further malocclusion.
Extraction of milk teeth can be done when the teeth is fractured or heavily decayed and mobile during its exfoliation so that permanent teeth will erupt at proper position and time.
